CadStd Lite: cadstd.com Developed by Apperson & Daughters, this is a good general purpose, easy-to-learn, and user-friendly CAD/drafting program. It is capable of creating professional-quality mechanical designs, house plans, blueprints, schematics, and charts employing ANSI drawing standards. CadStd Lite can export files as DXF, the native file extension used by the popular CAD program, AutoCAD.

DesignWorkshop Lite is also available in an expanded complete download for $9.95.

FreeCAD: free-cad.sourceforge.net From askoh.com, FreeCAD is a basic 3D CAD program with advanced motion-simulation capabilities that are extensively used for teaching and learning of geometry, kinematics, dynamics, vibrations, mechanisms, linkages, cams, machine design, and physics.

ProgeCAD LT: progecad.com This CAD program is a complete 2D and 3D CAD system, based on IntelliCAD 6 (an AutoCAD alternative that works with DWG version from 2.5 to 2006, export and import DXF and DWF) source code. ProgeCAD LT is free, however you will need to register it.
